Largacha y Liebelt started with two family names.
Largacha
Largacha comes from the Spanish side of our family — a line of women with strong personalities, a sense of style and a lot of character.
Liebelt
Liebelt comes from the German side, and with it a different kind of inheritance: curiosity and the instinct to build something of your own.
1950 — ALICANTE TO HAMBURG
It all goes back to Willy.
Part of our story goes back to our great grandfather Willy Liebelt. In the 1950s, the Liebelt family built a business connecting Spain and Germany for the first time in our families, bringing oranges and citrus fruits from Spain through Alicante and on to Hamburg.
Decades later, we found ourselves back in Alicante, this time making shoes.
We are Monika and Paloma.
We are Monika and Paloma, mother and daughter, both Spanish and German, two generations with different perspectives and a lot of shared taste.
Largacha y Liebelt brings those worlds together: feminine and masculine, expressive and practical, heritage and new ideas.
We began with the penny loafer because we both love classics, but prefer them with a little more character. So we work with Spanish makers and unexpected fabrics to take familiar shapes and make them feel exciting again.
Our first shoe last is called Willy, after the man who started this part of the family story. And while Liebelt carries that entrepreneurial spirit, Largacha brings the legacy of a long line of women with an instinctive drive to walk their own way.
Largacha y Liebelt is our way of carrying a little of where we come from into something new.
